Infrastructure Upgrade –
Direct Buried Utilities

On a 600-acre campus with many types and locations of buried infrastructure, planning ahead is everything. This project focused on upgrades to critical chilled water, well water, fresh water, fire main, and compressed air lines, with tie-ins to three independent buildings.

The Challenge: The project required jack boring under an existing building in a confined construction zone.

Our Solution: We leveraged years of experience from both the contractor and project management sides to meticulously plan and execute significant upgrades to infrastructure across the campus.

Results: In just four months, we updated 3,400 feet of utilities – future-proofing a complex network and keeping the long-range campus plan schedule. With every upgrade, the team not only strengthens today’s operations but also sets the foundation for what’s next.

Fire Main (FM)
Lining Project

On a site where fire protection is mission-critical, every minute of downtime matters. This project focused on upgrading the lining of an existing deteriorated 12" FM system that operates as a critical redundant source, including new connections to building branches and a new fire hydrant.

The Challenge: The FM system is essential for emergency response,
so minimizing downtime during replacement was critical.

Our Solution: We lined the existing FM, providing a 50-year solution that reduced installation time, cut costs and minimized business interruption. This approach mitigated costly and timely open-cut excavation while minimizing site restoration and traffic interruptions.

Results: In just three weeks, 260 feet of 12" FM was successfully lined and replaced, delivering a successful renovation under budget with minimal service and logistics interruptions.

Valve Pit (VP) Piping
and Valve Replacement

This VP serves as a major artery for the campus, distributing steam and pumped condensate, as well as chilled, fresh and well water, throughout campus.

The Challenge: Due to the importance of this VP, a detailed, well-orchestrated plan was necessary for the entire piping replacement without disrupting campus operations.

Our Solution: We spent three years carefully planning and executing supporting projects before this VP replacement, which set the stage
for a smooth process from start to finish.

Results: Using a phased project approach, our team completed a full mechanical reconstruction of the VP, strengthening the campus’s core infrastructure while minimizing interruptions to daily operations.

North Park
Utility Upgrade

The client needed a plan to replace all the underground utilities on a portion of the business park to support operational business needs.

The Challenge: The site is a 24/7/365 operation.

Our Solution: We prepared a phased utility replacement strategy to upgrade all utilities within the north park that includes piping installed on top of and through buildings while operating as normal.

Results: An engineering company was hired to confirm the concept presented and will move forward with detailed design.
